MINOR REQUESTS TO DIRECT ICSE TO ADOPT THE RE-ASSESSMENT OPTION of CBSE FOR THE FAILED STUDENTS OF 9TH AND 11TH CLASS: A PLEA IN SC

A student of class 11th of ICSE Board has filed a plea in the Hon’ble Apex Court through Advocate Alakh Alok Shrivastava. The petitioner through his petition has prayed the Apex Court to direct the ICSE Board to adopt the re-assessment method of CBSE for the students who were unable to pass the final term examinations of class 9th and class 11th. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a notification dated 13th May on the requests of all the parents and declared that all the students who have not been able to pass the final term examinations of class 9th and class 11th shall be given an opportunity to re-appear in order to improve their scores. The notification also provides the opportunity to those students to re-appear who wanted an improvement in their scores.

The petitioner had stated that the Hon’ble Supreme Court had already advised the ICSE Board to adopt the notification of CBSE in regards to reassessment. The petitioner has also contended that as ICSE Board has already shown a delay in adopting the notification of CBSE and now the re-assessment test amidst the Covid-19 Crisis will only risk the lives of the students. Therefore, the students who have failed to qualify their final term examinations shall be promoted to the next class.
